Advice on preparing for an interview

Interviews tips and advice.

Some things to consider before an interview.

It doesn’t matter if you’re searching for a new job or simply after a promotion within your own office, at some point you’re going to have to go to another dreaded interview. Many people get rather nervous about having to attend these and sometimes it can really affect how they perform. However if you keep these simple tips in mind you should be a success in no time!

Firstly do your research. If you’re going to a new company it is vital that you have a clear idea of their company history. Most companies will feature case studies on their site for observers to browse, take a look at them and form opinions on how it was ran and how you might do things slightly differently. If you’re going for a specialist position at an office ensure that you know your stuff. Brush up on your basic facts and keep up to date with the latest trends and stories within your industry.

Next dress well, this doesn’t  necessarily mean wearing a suit however. In fact in some cases going over dressed to an interview can seriously affect your chances of getting the job. If you’re visiting a modern cutting edge agency chances are they will be more smart casual. Research your company beforehand and make an informed decision.

Lastly evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses. Many people stumble on the question ‘what would you consider a weakness?’ but if you answer honestly and balance it out with examples of you past work and capabilities you should be fine. Don’t be afraid to speak about past success as it can really make an impression on employers.
