How colour can affect your office

Ideas for decorating your office.

Which colours work best in an office environment?

The way that your office is decorated can greatly influence how people feel whilst they’re working.

With this in mind, here is a short guide to give you some ideas on how to decorate your office and get the most out of your employees.

If you’re constantly working on high profile projects that stress you out it is a good idea to avoid vibrant colours such as bright red or green. Relaxing colours can be helpful with high stress offices, however if you work somewhere fairly laid back this may lead to you feel lethargic.

Here are a few of the best colours for an efficient working space:

Orange. This colour is energising and supposedly invokes creativity and happiness. However, you need to stick to a lighter tone of orange as a darker more vivid tone will be distracting.

Off white or beige. These colours provide a great neutral tone which can be calming and relaxing whilst you’re trying to work.

Light or moss green are more colours that can be very refreshing and keep you alert whilst working. These are supposedly very pro-active colours and have apparently proved to be effective for those working alone.

There are colours you want to avoid however. These include dark colours like purple, black and grey as these will create a feeling of tension or entrapment. Also stay away from bold colours such as pink and red as these will prove to be extremely distracting.
