Crossrail is hoping to create 20,000 sq. ft. of office space in Farringdon in preparation for the 140,000 passengers expected to pass through the station once the Thameslink connection opens in 2018.
Acting as the crossover station where over-ground and underground services with connect, Farringdon is expected to see 160 trains per hour during peak times once the program is complete – making the new offices and retails units being proposed by Crossrail an attractive proposition for businesses looking to take advantage of this transport hub.
Spread over 6 floors, the office development is expected to deliver a wider impact on the area, as Property Director Ian Lindsay of Crossrail explained:
“Our proposed developments will accelerate the area’s regeneration, helping Farringdon re-emerge as a destination in its own right.”
As this regeneration and preparation gains momentum, it is also reported that an additional 90,000 sq. ft. of retail and office at Liverpool Street is also being planned by Crossrail in partnership with Aviva Investors.
