Facebook Discuss Moving to New Office Space in a West End Property

With constant new office developments creating inspirational business communities and the phenomenal talent pool that London has to offer, the capital has in recent years, become extremely attractive to many of the world’s leading tech companies. Now, the latest firm rumoured to be expanding within London is Facebook. The social network plans to make its new home in a West End property.

Where to find the new Facebook offices

Facebook will take 247,000 sq. ft. of space in a West End property in Fitzrovia just off Oxford Street. Talks of the firm taking space in the New Kings Cross development close to Google’s London office have not gone ahead with City A.M confirming the actual location of the move earlier this month.

Instead, the social network chose to move closer to their existing office space, also located just off Oxford Street. The new West End property will house 800 employees; this will then take the total number of Facebook staff working in London to over 2,300.

Further London loving brands

Facebook’s continued interest in London is in line with companies including Apple, Snap – Snapchat’s parent company and Amazon, who have all recently secured UK bases in the city. Amazon has recently moved employees in to an office on the Shoreditch/City border and Snap have set up in Soho. Apple plans to begin working from the Battersea Power Station project very soon.

New incubator for the commercial West End property

Using the West End property to launch the business’s first in-house start-up incubator, LDN_LAB, this is a significant acquisition for Facebook. Of the 800 new employees brought into the office space, more than half will focus on engineering. The lab, designed to help UK tech start-ups propel their business, will offer a three month-long programme run by Facebook experts.

This news only means good things for London. It is further proof that large corporations still have confidence in the London market, despite the uncertainty brought by Brexit.
