New Skanska Project Constructs Green City of London Serviced Offices
Commercial property company Skanska will deliver 230,000 square foot of green City of London serviced offices.
The property deal by Skanska will see construction of a 16-storey building that aims to achieve BREEAM excellence.
Commercial real estate company Skanska has been awarded a construction project to build new City of London serviced offices at 6 Bevis Marks, in the EC3 area.
The £50 million contract will see the construction of a 16-storey commercial building, that will hold 230,000 square foot of office space. The construction is due to start immediately with completion planned for the autumn of 2012.
The new City of London serviced offices will replace an outdated building and reconnect the passages and outdoor spaces of surrounding public areas. The property will also enhance the setting of a number of prestigious buildings in the surrounding locality, including Sir Edwin Cooper’s Baltic Exchange and H.P Berlarge’s Holland House.
The new site has a target to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating with elements such as combined heat and power generation, energy saving lighting systems and condensing boilers. Rainwater harvesting systems, Electronically Commutated motors on fan coils and energy reclaim systems will also be included. The City of London serviced offices are set to meet current energy saving requirements by 40 per cent and will re-use 50 per cent of the existing below-ground structure.
A series of stepped volumes create 10,000 square feet of private outdoor roof terraces that enjoy views of the City Skyline.
In other news, Balfour Beatty, Bam Construct and Sir Robert McAlpine haves submitted bids for a £65 million office project for City of London serviced offices.
The 210,000 square foot office development next to Holborn Viaduct is known as Bath House and ranks as the biggest office scheme in the City at the moment.
Skanska had already put preliminary works in on the site, however they are not thought to have put in a final bid.
