How can cycling into work improve your commute?

The benefits of cycling into work.

A few advantages of choosing to cycle into work rather than driving.

Cycling to work is one of the best ways to commute into work. However, more often than not people choose to drive in or use public transport. During the summer months cycling is one of the best solutions to reducing the increasing cost of travelling to and from work. With this in mind here are a few key benefits:

Firstly cycling into the office greatly reduces the amount of money you have leaving your account every week. The obvious reason for this is that you no longer have to pay for fuel or servicing. If you decide to cut out the car completely you will also save money on insurance and road tax costs. Whilst you do have to pay for the bike itself the money you will save on the previous points outweighs the cost fairly quickly.

Secondly, cycling can be incredibly beneficial to your health. Not only will it help you to lose weight but it is also an excellent way of improving the health of your heart. It can also serve as your daily exercise meaning that you don’t have to set aside any additional time during your day to go to the gym or for a run.

Whilst cycling is very good for your health and wallet it is important that you remember to be safe. Wear all of the correct safety gear and ensure that you study road signs and safety guides before taking to the road. Confidence is also key, try cycling in parks and local spaces (where permitted) before you take to the roads. This will build up your confidence and skills and help to ensure you don’t make any mistakes on the road.
