How to reduce the cost of your daily commute

Ways to save money on your commute.

Advice on reducing your daily commute to the office.

Commuting to and from the office can be an expensive affair. Particularly as recent studies show it takes the average worker half an hour to travel to their office. However, there are some ways that you can save a little cash on travel.

Firstly, if you use public transport you could take advantage of the hugely popular Oyster card. This can be used instead of a traditional paper ticket and as a payment method. Using one of these cards also enables you to receive discounts and lower fares on some journeys. In fact using an Oyster card is one of the cheapest ways to travel around London.

If you drive into work there are also a few ways of saving money. Firstly consider car pooling to the office. Sharing a car to the office can significantly reduce the amount of petrol you use therefore you will spend much less cash. Alternatively, you could join up to loyalty and reward schemes which could save you money in the long term.

If you live close enough to the office you might want to walk or cycle into work. There are many benefits to this including reducing your carbon emissions, improving your health and obviously cutting the cost of fuel or tickets. If you do choose to cycle ensure that you have all of the correct safety gear and follow the strict rules of the road.
