How to successfully share office space.
Shared office space can be a great option if you want to save a bit of money whilst still being able to be located within quality offices. However, not everyone settles into sharing a workspace with someone straight away. With this in mind here is a short survival guide on sharing office space with another company or individual.
First and foremost you need to respect each other. Show some interest in the other company’s business and employees. The best way to successfully share office space is by getting to know your fellow tenants. This can also be a fantastic way of networking and finding possible business partners and clients.
Secondly keep the noise to a minimum. Avoid playing loud music or shouting around the office. Respect the other tenants need to work, if you do want to play music use an iPod or mp3 player. Alternatively you could ask if they mind you playing the radio etc but remember to keep it to sensible levels.
Respecting your fellow tenants space is also important. Remember that not all of the office space belongs to you and that you are both paying to be there. If you want to enter their offices be polite and knock; don’t just barge over to their desks and interrupt their work-flow.
Basically all you need to do to enjoy the benefits of shared office space is respect fellow tenants. Then you can enjoy the cheaper rates and fantastic networking opportunities without any constraints.
