The development is to transform the former Press and Broadcast Centres on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into a world-class digital and creative cluster, where global tech companies will be based alongside startups and small businesses.

The name Here East was revealed to coincide with confirmation of approval to develop the sites’s commercial property in London. It’s a bold brand statement which celebrates the development’s location in East London – a destination which is fast-becoming shorthand for creativity and innovation in the capital.

Here East will provide space specifically designed to accommodate innovative small businesses and startups, as illustrated above.

Speaking about LLDC’s decision to approve the development of this commercial property in London, Gavin Poole, CEO of iCITY, said: “I am delighted that our designs and plans to develop a world-leading cluster for cutting-edge creative and digital companies have been approved.”

Here East commercial property in London is being developed as a joint venture between Delancy and Infinity SDC.

Jamie Ritblat, CEO of Delancey, described getting the green light from LLDC as an important step for the “world-class development”: “Our vision of a unique home for the creative and digital industries in the heart of east London has moved one step closer to being delivered. Through our presence across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, including the creation of East Village, Delancey is committed to pioneering new communities, new destinations, and a long-term legacy of innovation, employment and enterprise from the London 2012 Games.

Ritblat’s enthusiasm was reflected by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who said; “I’m delighted that the plans for Here East, which will become a world leading digital hub have been approved. It will provide thousands of high quality jobs and be a real jewel in the crown of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.”

Construction on Here East commercial property in London is scheduled to begin in summer this year, with the site expected to be fully operational by 2018.
