Angel
Angel is an area of Islington in inner London.
The area is named after The Angel Inn which now stands on the corner of Islington High Street and Pentonville Road.  The Inn was situated near a toll gate, literature dates the Inn back to before 1665, the year of the plague in London
Another historical landmark is Union Chapel which is a Grade II listed building and regarded as one of the most important in Islington.
Known as ‘The Angel’ after the Inn, the area is well known for its Art Culture. There are numerous theatres, restaurants, bars, pubs and cinemas to enjoy in the area including famous venues such as Sadlers Wells.
Angel underground station is on the Bank branch of the Northern Line in Zone 1.  It is situated between Old Street and King’s Cross St. Pancras stations and serves as a portal to several Off West End venues as well as inner city office space.
Places of interest: The Angel Inn, Union Chapel, George Orwell and Charles Dickens’ Islington, Islington Archaeology & History Society, N1 Shopping Centre, the Business Design Centre.
