Bishopsgate
Bishopsgate, in EC2, is a ward in east London.  Like other original wards, Bishopsgate takes its name from a gate in the London wall.
It is boarded by the boroughs of Islington and Hackney to the south, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to the east, Old Broad Street to the west and Worship Street to the North.
Today Bishopsgate gives it name to a street in the same area.
In 1993, Bishopsgate was the location of an IRA bombing which killed one and left dozens injured.  It also caused millions of pounds worth of damage to neighbouring commercial and religious buildings as well as transport terminals.
Bishopsgate is served by Liverpool tube station in zone 1 on the Central, Circle, Metropolitan, and Hammersmith & City Lines. It provides access to fantastic shopping and tourist sites across the city as well as the office space of the central business district.
Places of interest: Liverpool Street Station, Bishopsgate Institute, Fortifications of London, City Gate, City Wall, Heron Tower, Bishopsgate Tower, Saint Botolph’s Parish Church.
