Tube strike to affect London office workers

London Underground strikes cause disruption to city workers.

London office workers will be disrupted today by a strike concerning budget cuts.

London office workers face another Tube strike today as workers protest against job cuts.

The strike will last until 7pm tonight and is being carried out by around 11,000 union members. Despite the strike, Transport for London are claiming that forty percent of services are still running. (more…)

Quintain Estates and Development plc sell London office space in £97.1m deal

Property investor Quintain Estates have sold their Pier Walk development on the Greenwich Peninsula for £97.1m to Deka Immobilien GmbH, a subsidiary of the DekaBank Group.

The deal represents a 6% uplift above a valuation at the end of Q1 with a yield of 5.9%. This clearly demonstrates the potential value within the Greenwich Peninsula scheme.

Quintain has also seen a 20% expansion of their student housing portfolio.

Transport for London no longer to take up office space in the Shard as developers target top-end tenants

The planned first tenant of the Shard building, will not be moving into the London Bridge premises, which are due for completion in 2012.

Developers, Sellar Property Group and the State of Qatar, have acquired Transport for London’s (TfL) pre-let agreement in hopes of placing the build at the top end of the property market.

Transport for London head office installs Combined Heat and Power plant

The offices of  Transport for London and London Development Agency are now home to the UK’s largest hydrogen fuel cell.

Deputy Mayor of London Kit Malthouse visited the TfL and LDA offices at Palestra on Blackfriar’s Road and officially unveiled the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant.  The plant cost a reported £2.4 million and is part of the plan for the building to save £400,000 in energy bills and cut carbon emissions. TfL and LDA recently joined the 10:10 Campaign to join the action in London to reduce their carbon footprint. (more…)
