Social media platform Twitter is set to establish a London office while questions linger as to their relationship with British injunction laws.
If the service sets up in the UK, it will come under British jurisdiction and will be subject to injunction laws that forbid it from holding and allowing the sharing of information that has been censored by the courts.
Regardless of this potentially sticky situation, Twitter is scouting for a London office, although the details remain unknown.
Some, including the Prime Minister, speculate that the trendy East of London will provide the perfect home for Twitter. Others believe a more media-friendly environment such as that in the West End would make for the perfect base.
A Twitter spokesperson has stressed that, while the company will not hesitate in establishing a London base, this will not be its European headquarters – the location of which has yet to be decided.
