Yammer has announced that it is to open offices at a commercial property in East London’s Silicon Roundabout. The company, which is behind the social networking platform of the same name, will be opening new London offices this year. Yammer is currently based in San Francisco and they are the latest in a long string of companies to lease office space within London’s ‘Tech City’ area.

Last year David Cameron revealed plans to turn East London into a major tech hub that would rival that of San Francisco’s ‘Silicon Valley’. Thus far the project has been successful with many new media and technology companies moving into commercial property in East London. Yammer follows a similar format to rival social networking platform Twitter. However, Yammer is centred around more professional business prospects rather than being simply a micro-blogging site that covers any subject matter. The company is expecting to double its staff by the end of this year. The new commercial property in East London will be used as a central sales and client service hub specifically for the EMEA regions.
