The close by Paternoster Square and its brilliant column are another spectacular sight within this area. The 23m tall Paternoster Square Column is the main monument in the square and was erected in 2008 as part of the redevelopment of the area. Overall work here commenced in 2000 headed up by architects Whitfield Partners; the finished product is comprised of a number of office blocks, bars and restaurants and the square itself is a beautiful place to meet and socialise during the summer months. Although the square is now very modern and public it once held a very important role in conjunction to the Cathedral; this wonderful paved area was once used by the clergy to walk in procession along Paternoster Row whilst reciting the Paternoster prayer.

St. Paul’s and the cathedral, another piece of magnificent work by Christopher Wren, are very important parts of the City. The architecture which first began in this area is what shaped London as we know it today and all the beautiful sights are an important piece of London’s history.
