American Insurers Lease Space in London Office Tower the Cheesegrater

Aon lease space in London Office Tower the Cheesegrater. American insurers take up London office space.

The Leadenhall Building, or Cheesegrater as its more commonly known, has just found another new tenant in the form of Aon Corp. The London office tower is currently under construction in the City of London financial district and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2014.

US insurers Aon are to lease 191,000 square feet of office space within the London office tower. According to the developers, British Land and Oxford Properties Group, the company also have the option of leasing a further four floors in the building.

The Leadenhall project has just this year gotten back on track after a series of stalls and problems that are mostly attributed to the economic climate at the time. Once completed the London office tower will have 47 floors and will have cost around £34 million to construct. Overall it will provide 610,000 square feet of quality office space in London.

Another Big Industry Move

In other London office space news Rathbones has announced it will move its London headquarters to 1 Curzon Street. The company has stated it plans to make the move in February next year.

One-Curzon-Street

The firm has signed a long-term 12 year lease on 42,200 square feet of office space in the building. This means that Rathbones will occupy both the third and fourth floors of 1 Curzon Street.

“The move to No 1 Curzon Street not only keeps Rathbones in the heart of Mayfair, but also increases our effective space in London by around 10%, as a result of a larger and more efficient floor plan than our existing offices, without a material increase in the ongoing cost base,” commented Andy Pomfret, chief executive of Rathbones.
