Want to rent space in London? Consider New Developments in Shoreditch
As those looking to rent space in London – Shoreditch shows no signs of slowing down, a raft of new developments is set to increase the amount and range of space available. We take a look at what’s next for Tech City.
Rent space in London – White Collar Factory
Right now, one of the most anticipated new office developments in Shoreditch is Derwent London’s White Collar Factory. Described by its developers as “beautifully usable and adaptable no-frills B1 workspace”, a large part of the building’s appeal lies in its quirky attitude which is a perfect fit for the off-beat Shoreditch lovers looking to rent space in London.
Situated just off the Old Street Roundabout on City Road, White Collar Factory will be a combination of a new sixteen-storey office block and refurbished existing buildings. In total, it will create almost 270,000 sq ft of new office space.
British Land – Shoreditch Estate
300,000 sq ft of premium office space is to be created in Shoreditch by British Land. Known as the Shoreditch Estate, the site covers two acres in the Elder Street Conservation Area.
The developer secured an agreement with the City of London Corporation last month and will now move on to the next stage of development.
While a number of the existing buildings will be retained and transformed into office space, the site will also incorporate new-build space. It is to be designed by AHMM, the architecture firm which is also behind the design for Google’s new King’s Cross HQ.
207 Old Street
Occupying a key location off the Silicon Roundabout, this three-acre site contains 230,000 sq ft of office space which developer Helical Bar hopes to transform into state-of-the-art TMT space.
Yet again, the chosen architects are AHMM. Their vision for the site includes retention of the existing 1960s office blocks, which are to be extended and given new façades.
Although currently awaiting planning approval, it is expected to reach completion in 2016.
Serviced offices at the Black & White Building
If you are looking to rent space in London, it’s not just conventional office space; the options for serviced offices continue to grow too. And just like its conventional office counterpart, the serviced office scene in Shoreditch is heavily focused on design-led space, suitable for creative companies who want to rent space in London.
The new Black & White Building by The Office Group is likely to follow this trend. The centre is due to launch next month and will have meeting rooms, a boardroom and a business lounge, alongside fully furnished offices.
Serviced office options are particularly popular with startups and SMEs looking to establish a Shoreditch address without having to make a long-term commitment. We recently compiled a virtual tour of serviced offices in Shoreditch here.
